Giving Aid to Poor Countries

Posted on by

When polled, the American public agreed with the assertion that “taking care of problems at home is more important than giving aid to foreign countries.”

But this does mean that Americans think that no aid should go overseas?

When respondents were asked what percentage of their tax dollars that go to help poor people at home and abroad … should go to help poor people in other countries, the response was 16%. (Down from a 22% response in a 1996 poll.)

Strikingly, this turns out to be a far higher percentage than is currently given.

The year this poll was taken, only about four per cent (4%) of the total spent went toward causes that in any way benefited the poor abroad. (Nowhere near the above 16 – 22%.)

We are a church located in Africa in Kenya called Jerusalem baptist church.

We are mainly involved in feeding homeless children. we have started a school to keep this children away from the streets, from drugs and prostitution. we are looking for sponsors to help as build sleeping areas in the church property and build class rooms for this kids to have an education. This children eat from dust bins and the small girls do child labour just to get 50 cent which is not enough to buy them food.

Most of this kids dont know there parents they were born and thrown away. it is a big burden that i have had for the last 3 years and our church is small we cant manage to do it alone we are looking for sponsors to help as give this children hope and a future.

Currently we have 300 children under our care between the ages of 5 years to 15 years. Any donation would help as start the building of sleeping halls and building class rooms.
